Gartner Names BuildingIQ a “Cool Vendor in Green IT & Sustainability”

BuildingIQ has been named in the “Cool Vendors in Green IT and Sustainability 2013” report by leading research firm, Gartner Inc.

As one of six vendors selected by Gartner, BuildingIQ is recognized for its software’s ability to overcome energy efficiency challenges in commercial buildings, aiding in the reduction of HVAC energy costs by as much as 25 percent.

For this year’s report, Gartner identified vendors that address two key themes that are becoming increasingly related in the area of sustainability:  namely, building energy efficiency and stakeholder engagement, especially through the use of gamification.  BuildingIQ’s cloud-based software integrates with the existing building energy management system (BEMS), allowing for easy installation in both new and existing structures.  Variables such as utility tariffs, demand response signals, weather forecasts, occupant comfort and building characteristics are incorporated into algorithms that provide a custom solution to fit any building’s sustainability needs.  It requires little capital expenditure and can provide a quick return on investment through reductions in energy consumption.

According to Gartner, “this technology is directly relevant to engineering and facility management specialists and utilities with demand response and energy efficiency programs targeted at the commercial sector.”

“We believe that recognition from Gartner speaks to our solution’s ability to reduce energy consumption and deliver tangible results that ultimately reduce the environmental footprint of commercial buildings,” said Michael Zimmerman, CEO of BuildingIQ.  “Every building is different, and that is why it is so important to utilize a technology that is able to take into account all the unique characteristics of a facility.”
